DECEMBER 2014 - MOST USED MAKEUP PRODUCTS...

DECEMBER 2014 - MOST USED MAKEUP PRODUCTS

Hello lovely readers, in today's post I just wanted to share with you some of the most used products I have been using over the past month. There are only a few products but I've really liked using them all so just wanted to show you all. Most of the products are for the face as I haven't really worn that much makeup on my eyes lately.

Here are my most used products of December 2014...

Rimmel London -- BB Cream in Light - This gives a nice light coverage works well for an everyday
base

Rimmel London - Fix and Perfect Pro Primer - This helps to smooth out the skin and creates a smooth even canvas for makeup

Maybeline Lumi Under Eye Concealer - Brightens under my eyes and adds a highlighted affect to the skin which I love!

Glossybox Blusher in Rosewood - Adds a bit of colour to the cheeks and works well during the Autumn/Winter months as it is a Berry tone

Model Co Cheek and Lips Tint - This dark red shade adds adds to any neutral look to create a Vampy edge. I love this shade and the colour is really long lasting, but make sure you moisturise your Lips before applying as this can dry them slightly.

And finally.. the Collection Concealer - Simply a must have that is always in my makeup bag. It works great for everyday!

Hope you liked this post :)

CHRISTMAS PRESENT = NEW STORAGE SPACE

CHRISTMAS PRESENT = NEW STORAGE SPACE

Hello lovely readers, for today's post I wanted to share with you a gift I was given for Christmas from my family. It's a lovely 3 drawer storage unit that's really sweet and compact and is something I couldn't wait to use as a new storage solution.

At the moment I am storing my lip products in the drawers but I can think of lot's of other ways to use them, they are really lovely and match the other storage boxes I already have. I'm not really sure where they are from but I'm sure there will be similar storage solutions at stores like Next and TKMaxx.

I used all three of the drawers to organise my lip products - Red Lipsticks - Orange/Pink Lipsticks and then Nude Lipsticks. This way they are easy to find and are in a set place.

Did you get any organising products over the holidays? - I'm still on the look out for a Lipstick holder but love this for storing them in at the moment.

Best wishes :)

A FEW OF MY FAVOURITE ROOM ACCESSORIES

A FEW OF MY FAVOURITE ROOM ACCESSORIES...

Hello lovely readers, for this post I wanted to share with you some of the Accessories I use to decorate my room, there are only three but they are all really cute and I just wanted to share them with you all. I may do room tour type blog post in the future when it is completely decorated if anyone wants to see an read about that?

But for now here are a few of my favourite home decorating accessories...

This Candle is so lovely, it smells just like sweets! I often just take the lid off it to fill the room with a sweet fragrance. It was a gift from couple of years ago but the scent is still there, I have never used it as a candle because I like it so much I just wanted to keep it as it is. It's also quite a strong smell so I like it just as it is.

This next item is a sort of DIY project, I got the blue/green frame from TKMaxx and just put in this Postcard of Audrey Hepburn I purchased (I think from Paperchase) a few years ago. I love th frame it has a modern shape but the colour makes it look rustic and traditional - a combination I really love.

And finally... I purchased this Camera Ornament from Next a few years ago, I love Camera's and really wanted a vintage on to put on my shelf as a sort of 'display piece' but I could never find the right one for me, so when I saw this mirrored Ornament I thought it was just so unique that I had to buy it. I think it just adds a bit of character to my room and really helps to portray part of my personality.

Hope you liked this post :)

EMPTIES - BEGINING OF DECEMBER

EMPTIES - BEGINING OF DECEMBER

Hello lovely readers, in this blog post I wanted to share with you some of the products I have been using lately. There are just a few but I thought they all worked really well so couldn't wait to tell you all about them.
The first product I used up is the Calvin Klein Euphoria perfume - this smells really good and is the second bottle I have finished, I got this last year as gift and have used it lots throughout the time I had it, it's a lovely scent for the autumn and winter months as it has a 'warming' scent that I love to wear during the festive season.

The next product is the Figs and Rouge Hand Cream in Mango - I did like this cream as it did moisturise my hands well, but I wasn't really sure about the scent. I usually love all things Mango but the cream worked really well so I think I would try this again but just with a different fragrance. The small tube is also great for travelling so it's something you can easily carry around in you handbag.

The third product is the Mitchell and Peach Body Cream - This had an amazing scent and really helped to moisturise my skin. I only had a small sample of this but think it would be lovely to buy the full size. It smells that good that you don't really need any Perfume on.

This next product is something I use nearly every day - The Neutrogena Visably Clear 2 in 1 Wash and Mask is something I just love, I really like that it is a 2 in 1 product as this makes it more cost effective and also saves space. I love using this as a face was as it works quickly at removing dirt and Makeup, I also use this occasionally as a mask to clean and unclog pores, I only do this once or twice as week as I have quite sensitive skin. This is just a product I always end up going back to, so it's not a surprise that this is my third bottle.

LOVE THIS ANANOMICALS FACIAL SPRITZ - This smells just like Lavender and works so well at refreshing my face. I just love this! It's great for a quick refresh and is a product I especially love in the warmer months.

The final product that I have used up is the Vaseline Intensive Care Healthy Hands Stronger Nails Cream - This did make me feel like my Nails were in a better condition and it has a nice subtle fragrance that I quite liked. I used this quite a lot during the day to help add extra moisture to my dry hands. I think this is a good product to keep in your bag or on your desk (that's where I keep mine).

INEXPENSIVE WAYS TO ORGANIZE YOU STUFF - 2014

INEXPENSIVE WAYS TO ORGANIZE YOUR STUFF - 2014

Hello lovely readers, in today's blog post I am going to share some of the ways in organize my stuff on a budget. Having recently been a student I have tried to save money and spend it on what I really needed to buy (travel, books and stationary), so there was never really that much left over for decorating or buying organizers for my room. However, I have found a few inexpensive ways to get organized on a budget, I don't think you need to spend a lot to get organized it's just a matter of find what is right your you and your room decor/personal taste.
I often like to keep my room quite empty, I don't like to have too much out on display (my makeup and makeup brushes are an exception of course) but I do like to have a few accent accessories out and about to keep the room looking more 'homely'.
The majority of my things are divided up and put into a few pieces of furniture I purchased from Ikea, like the Malm Drawers and Desk and a few Expedit's which also contain decorative material boxes that are also from Ikea. I often use these to divide up what I own. This way they are relatively well organized and everything is easy to find and access.

As well as furniture, small boxes (I often use glossy boxes) can be used to divide up your drawers and create individual sections, this is an inexpensive way to divide up what you own. I often use this idea to organize my Socks and Bath/Shower products. There small boxes can also be used to store Stationary, Nail Polish and other small accessories.
I use an idea similar to this to store my Nail Polishes as I use a Hat Box I was given as a gift to store my Nail Polishes. Using a decorative box will keep your room looking pretty but it will also keep your stuff dust free, which is always good for me.

Similar to other Bloggers, I also use the Ikea Plant Pots to organize my hair and makeup brushes. I think this is a great idea as it keeps them together and easy to grab on the go.

I also like to use small Jars and tins to organize samples that I have found in Magazines as well as travel size products I have purchased for travelling. I like to put these in a small vintage style tin I have, this way they are hidden away but are still in a place that I can find them.

How do you store your Makeup/Accessories?

Best wishes from Lauren :)

DE-CLUTTERING MY MAKEUP - NOVEMBER 2014

DE-CLUTTERING MY MAKEUP - NOVEMBER 2014

Hello lovely readers in this blog post I wanted to share with you some of my tips for de-cluttering makeup. I like to sort through my makeup regularly and sort out what's old, what's new and what's been open and for how long. I like to use what I have but I want to make sure everything is still in date and 'fresh' enough to use.

The first this I do is look through the items that I use on a regular basis (I usually like to keep products together that are seasonal) and sort through these first to see what is still 'fresh' and 'usable' and what needs to be thrown away.
I don't throw that much away as I like to make products cost effective, but if they are not working of the packaging is broken (for example the lid is cracked) I will usually throw these away, as it can be quite sharp. (This recently happened to me with a Lip Crayon that had a broken lid).

If there is a product that is unopened and doesn't really work for me but still is really nice and can be used again I will either pass this on to my Sister of Mum so that they can use it in the future.

After sorting out what I use regularly I will add new products that are new or relevant to the season (for example adding dark red Lipsticks for Autumn).  This way I can use what is 'on trend' but also try out new products and create new makeup looks.

After doing this I will give my makeup a 'general tidy' and organize the products by type - All eye products together, all lip products together and and all face products together. This way everything can be clearly seen and is easier to access and organize in the future.

Before...

After...

TRYING TO GET ORGANISED - NOVEMBER 2014

TRYING TO GET ORGANISED - NOVEMBER 2014

Hello lovely readers, for today's blog post I wanted to share with you some of the steps I have been taking to try and get organised over the last few years. I really do want to get my room tidy and just become more organised in general so there are a number of tasks I set for myself that I like to carry out during each month of the year. Of course there is the usual... clean and polish my room, hoover up every few days, changed bedding at least once a week etc. But there are also other practices that I like to put into place in order to try and become a more organised and tidy person. Things like...

1. Every week or so I declutter paperwork by filling most of it away in small plastic wallets, this helps to keep it all neat and dust free as well as making it less likely to become creased in a cupboard somewhere.

2. Every few months I like to recycle old Magazines or free booklets that I have picked up whilst out and about, these soon build up and start to take up a lot of space. I like to stick to this rule - I like to keep magazines that are Special Edition or if it is under six months old so it still applies to the same season. After I sort out these magazines I like to recycle them so that they can be re-used again for something else, making it better for the environment too.

3. Sorting out through my drawers every few weeks to re-arrange clothing that has been moved or is not in its designated drawer is also something I like to do often as it means that clothing remains easy to find and I begin to find a place for everything.

4. Organizing my Makeup and Accessories every few months (seasonally) also helps to keep me organised, it also means that I begin to use more of what I have instead of wasting anything. I used to hate opening more that one Lipstick at a time but I began to realize that I would probably just have to wear that same shade everyday even if I didn't want to. So I slowly began to open just a few more and switched them around so that I began to use more of them and more often.

5. Buying less and using more of what I already have - Instead of me buying something every time I see something I like I have begun to start using up the products/clothing that I already own. I am trying to do a sort of 'Project Pan' with some of my hair styling products, I have too many for one person so I am trying not to buy so many and just use up what I have. The only products I will still continue to buy are Shampoo/Conditioner/Heat Styling Spray. This is just a project until the end of the year, but I can already tell that its helping me create more space and becoming cost effective as I don't buy as much. I have written a blog post on this so you can always check that out if you would like to :)

Hope you liked this post :) What ways do you like to keep organised?

I also really like the Collection Perfection Concealer (this is just an everyday essential for me).
I also like this Tresemme' Heat Protection Spray - it smells really fresh and keeps my hair feeling hydrated and shiny.
Also for hair, this Batiste Dry Shampoo in the scent Fresh helps to add volume to my hair and adds a subtle clean scent.

QUICK TIPS FOR KEEPING YOUR ROOM TIDY

QUICK TIPS FOR KEEPING YOUR ROOM TIDY

Hello lovely readers, for today's post I thought I'd share with you some of the steps I take to keep my room tidy. I've been quite busy at the moment so I haven't been able to tidy my room as much as I would like but I still find a few minutes a day to keep on top of my room cleaning routine.

I thought I would start by telling you a bit about my room and my general room cleaning routine... I like to thoroughly Vacuum my room at least once a week (I do have a Labrador Retriever so this is important for me). As well as this thorough Vacuum I also liked to do a quick Vacuum every other day. It only takes me a few minutes but helps me keep my room looking and smelling fresher. I also dust my room every few days, I don't like to use too many products because these can smell 'overpowering' so I just just a little bit of polish or an Anti-bacterial wipe to remove dust and dirt that may be on surfaces.

I also like to change my bedding once a week (sometimes twice in the Summer), this keeps it smelling fresh and clean (I just love fresh sheets). When your bed is clean and tidy this instantly makes your room look better and gives me motivation to keep on tidying it. You can also use this as a surface to sort our your clean clothes before putting them away in your Drawers or Wardrobe.  I don't have much space in my room for clothes and don't own a Wardrobe so I like to tidy my Drawers up at least once a week to make sure I can find everything I need and make sure their is enough room to store the clothes I have.
Even though I am busy through the week I like to take a few minutes every night just to tidy the surfaces in my room, for example if I've left my Makeup on my Desk I will put it away and store it in  an accessible place so I can find it and use it again the next time I want to use it. I also like tidy my Desk out every now and again, I like to keep organised so that I know exactly where everything is fro the next time I may need it. I have so many Notebooks in my Desk so I often like organise them and put them in a place where they are easy to find but also look tidy. When my Desk it tidy, I just put things away in the storage unit that I have, empty the Bin in my room and that's pretty much it. It doesn't take long but it feels good to had a clean and tidy room, because then you can spend time doing what you really want to - like... Watching a Film, having a Pamper Evening or going out for the day.

Hope you liked this post :)

What's your room tidying routine?

REVIEW: GARNIER EXPRESS 2 IN 1 EYE MAKEUP REMOVER

REVIEW: GARNIER EXPRESS 2 IN 1 EYE MAKEUP REMOVER

Hello lovely readers, for today's post I am going to be reviewing the Garnier 2 In 1 Express Eye Makeup Remover. I purchased this a few weeks ago from Boots because my other Eye Makeup Remover had just ran out, so I was in need of a new one. The last Eye Makeup Remover I had was also from Garnier but it was one of their Fresh Essentials range. I did like that one but I found I used it up quite quickly so I thought I would try another one from the same brand to compare the two.
The Express 2 In 1 Eye Makeup Remover is slightly different to the previous one I tried as it contains two different parts which means that it has to be shaken up in order to mix the two liquids together. Once they are mixed together the liquid will turn a light shade of purple and you can then put this on a cotton pad and start removing your eye makeup.
I think this works better for me as the makeup dissolves much quicker, I also didn't have to keep tugging at my eye area as the Eye Makeup Remover removed most of my eye makeup with a few seconds. It worked efficiently and did the job well, it also only takes a few drops so this product will last me a lot longer than the Fresh Essentials one.

Their isn't much of a scent with this product either which is good as some people may not like strong scents on their face, I personally prefer unscented products around my eye area as they are very sensitive.
How I used the product:  I made sure the lid was on correctly and make sure it was closed before shaking the bottle to mix the two liquids together. I then got a cotton pad and poured a few drops on it and then help this over my closed eyes for a few seconds, then I removed the cotton pad and saw that most of my eye makeup had been removed. I then went back around my eye area and gently removed any other trace of eye makeup before moving on the the next eye and repeating these steps again.
I then followed this up with my night time skincare routine to remove any other makeup that I have been wearing.

I did like this product and it is inexpensive so I will probably repurchase this again, it does work well at gently removing makeup, the only thing I would say is it does feel very oily only the skin, so I like to wash my face after using this product.

Hope you liked this post :)

What Eye Makeup Removers do you like?

Best wishes :)

FROM SUMMER TO AUTUMN - MY DRUGSTORE TRANSITIONAL LIPSTICKS

FROM SUMMER TO AUTUMN - MY DRUGSTORE TRANSITIONAL LIPSTICKS

Hello lovely readers, for today's post I am going to be taking you through some of my top Lipstick picks that I would wear in both Summer and Autumn. I chose a few different shades from nudes to brights all of which I would wear for both seasons (I would wear them all year round) but they look especially good in the Summer and Autumn months.

The first Lipstick is the Rimmel London Moisture Renew Lipstick in 620 - Coral Queen. This is such a vibrant orange, it looks good on all skin tones and works well in both Summer and Autumn as it adds colour to the face and warms up the complexion. I think this looks great with minimal makeup/neutral eye makeup as it creates a new take on the traditional bold red lip.

The next Lipstick is the Rimmel London Moisture Renew Lipstick in 660 - In Love With Ginger. I love this! Its similar to the Coral Queen Lipstick but it has more red undertones, making it an ideal for more formal makeup. Its bright and bold but elegant. And as with all of the Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipsticks it does moisturise and keeps your lips looking soft and well hydrated - an element with is important in both the warmer and cooler months.

The third Lipstick is also from Rimmel but this time it s a Lasting Finish Lipstick in the shade 206 - Nude Pink. This is such an 'everyday' wearable colour, it adds a subtle hint of colour to the lips as well as a slight sheen. It look so luxurious and creates that perfect 'no makeup' look. I keep this in my bag everyday as it works with any look. It would look lovely with dramatic eyeliner of with a neutral eye. It just works so well and is moisturising on the lips too, its feels very similar to the Moisture Renew formula from Rimmel. It smells like sweets too which I just love!

The final Lipstick is from Topshop its in the shade - Brighton Rock - This is my only bright pink Lipstick but I love it so much, I didn't use if for ages because I thought it was too nice to use but then I thought, if I like it I should just wear it... so I did and I really liked it. Firstly I love the name, for some reason though it makes me think of The Beatles (I love them!), I'm not sure why it makes me think of them but I guess that's just another reason for me to love it. Secondly the packaging is just lush, it's so clean and chic and it has that satisfying click sound when you put the lid back on it ( or is that just me that likes that sound?).
And finally the colour is just so pretty it looks so cute and once again the Lipstick smells like sweets so I love wearing it.

Hope you liked this post :)

What are you favourite transitional Lipsticks that you would wear in both Summer and Autumn?

Best wishes :)

REVIEW: GOT2B VOLUME + SHINE SOUFFLE'

REVIEW: GOT2B VOLUME + SHINE SOUFFLE'

Hello lovely readers, for today's post I am going to be doing a review on the Got2Be Volume + Shine Souffle' from Schwarzkopf. I got this a few weeks (probably months) ago in a Glossybox so I thought I would try it out. I've got too many hair products already but some just don't work for my hair. I have quite 'flyaway' fair and although its gotten slightly thicker over the past couple of years it can still look quite oily, so I have to be careful about what products I use because I don't it to look greasy.
I was really looking forward to trying this as it is a unique formula and looks so different (it's pink!) which I really like. It has quite a sweet scent but its not overpowering, the formula itself is like it says a souffle'. I think it looks and feels like a Strawberry Mousse', you get quite a lot of product too (100ml) and you only need a really small amount so it would last you a while which is always a good thing.

THE PACKAGING: The packaging is really unique its a rose gold colour which instantly makes me thing luxurious, the top of the lid is a dark but bright pink which makes it stand out well and the design of the lid makes it much easier for you to open. The packaging is quite a strong plastic so I feel like the product is secure enough and as its a Souffle' non of the product should leak anywhere. I do like the stylish but modernist take on the packaging its gives subtle hints about the product throughout its design.

HOW I USE THE PRODUCT: I use this product on clean dry hair, to do this I take a small pea sized amount and rub the product in the palms of my hands then I lightly distribute the product throughout the lengths of my hair to add shine, I sometimes use any extra product that is left on my hands and take this underneath pieces of hair to add volume, but for me I usually use this product to tame 'flyaway' hairs.

MY THOUGHTS: I do this this product helps tame hair and keeps it looking tidy, it also adds a subtle amount of shine and for those who love a sweet scent you will probably really enjoy that too. I wasn't too sure about the scent, its a little too sweet for me, but the product itself works really well and you can us it in a number of ways. For example: Add shine, neaten up 'flyaway' hairs (this makes it great for formal looks) and add volume (adds texture for a tousled look).

Hope you liked this post :)

Have you tried this product? What are your thoughts?

Best wishes :)

Jewellery Organisation - Part 2

Jewellery Organisation - Part 2

Hello lovely readers, for today's post I am going to continue on the Jewellery organisation theme and show you two ways in which I organise my Jewellery.
The first is in a box that I got at Sainsbury's quite a while ago, but I'm sure there are similar storage solutions around, maybe in TK Maxx or little gift shops and there are always good things in Charity shops that you can use to store your Jewellery. I can't remember the price of this but I think it was less than £12, its an item I have shown before in one of my earlier posts, so you can tell how much I love it. The box in question has a glass lid that is framed with a pretty floral lace and the remainder of the box is made out of wood and painted in a light Duck Egg blue. The box has dividers already in it that are permanently fixed to the box so you can't move them but they are strong as they are made from wood. I use this box to store my small Necklaces, Bracelets and a variety of Rings. They aren't in a particular order but everything is still easy to find.

The second box is actually designed to hold Keys but I used it to store larger Bracelets, i think this is a unique way of using the box and makes its already vintage design look more old fashioned.
I purchased this Key box from TK Maxx a few months ago but they sell a number of decorative items such as this. I usually keep this standing up in my room but I it would look really nice in any room of the house.

Hope you liked this post :)
Which storage solution is your favourite?
